Opportunity and exhaustion

Pros

GE Healthcare has a very diverse employee base, and there is great opportunity (if you want it) to advance in your career, including trying new career paths. Salaries and benefits are competitive. There is a culture change underway to be more customer focused.

Cons

The company has pared down the workforce to such an extent that 1 person is often being given the workload of 2 others who were RIF'd. Work-Life balance is espoused but it's hard to find anybody who has it.

Pros

Passionate, highly skilled people create a great opportunity to learn new things and impact the world of healthcare. GE has the capacity to swing big and positively affect the lives of millions world-wide.

Cons

There is so much structure and process that it is hard to be nimble and move with the market. Because it is in a regulated industry, the successful regulatory audits become de facto standards for all projects, resulting in processes with considerable overhead. And in contrast to its stated goals of organic growth, GE bypasses innovative startup ideas and focuses instead on acquisitions with existing markets.

Good Company, but lays off too much...

Pros

I was at GE Healthcare for almost 3 years and I liked it very much and was very happy. My 2 managers I had were awesome, but GE is so big that when they lay-off people they are pretty big lay-offs.

Cons

The company thinks about their stock more than they consider their employees. If the company stock is down at the end of the year they lay-off to try to have a good end of year stock value and report, and when GE lays off they do not go by who works the hardest or most devoted employees, they go by seniority. I got caught up a a big layoff, right before Christmas!!! Merry Christmas right?
