      Good company and department. Benefits are good.

      Pros

      You will be recognized for good work and also for not so good work. You do need to perform to do well as General Electric.

      Cons

      Fairly old school management style; focus on short term goals perhaps in spite of long term success. Systems could use some updating.

      Pros

      - Benefits seemed about average with other large companies where I have worked. - There are a lot of opportunities for advancement.

      Cons

      - The culture seemed more focused on the individual and getting ahead rather that working as a team to get the job done. - Very demanding expectations. They seem to have less focus on work/life balance than other large companies where I have worked.

      I've spent the last five years at GE and the culture of success and the senior leaders to be inspiring.

      Pros

      Working around people who want to succeed. In sports terms, no one walks. Especially in a crisis, everyone comes together for solutions to delight the customer. The culture of compliance and integrity is greater than any business I've even heard about.

      Cons

      The path to executive is opaque and can seem aribtrary. Joining from the outside (excluding a leadership program) means you will be shelved for years before being allowed on the corporate ladder. Titles are misleading, but there is an obsession with them from within the functional ranks.
