Pros

There are some truly great people still left at GEA. The benefits are good with an above-par 401K match. Lots of flexibility and a decent amount of vacation time.

Cons

Top heavy management that keeps getting shuffled around. Outside of Germany there is no longer much room to advance and it frequently feels as though non-Germans are treated as second class citizens. While they do promote from within, this is done almost exclusively by nomination which limits both the possible qualified candidates and means that those looking to expand into different roles are unable to do so.

Pros

Used to be a great company to work for, so maybe there's hope it gets back there, but even well after i have left, I've heard it's worse. At the time I left benefits were still top notch, but maybe that's coming to an end too, see below.

Cons

Decided to consolidate, spent time/money to evaluate their employees, yet none of that was even considered when deciding who to let go. Appeared more of a front to the shareholders and employees and they really just removed people that were too old and/or had a high salary. The morale of the company was the worst I've ever been part of. I've heard and confirmed they took health care away from one location. Management plays favorites, there's no room or plan for growth, and no one is held accountable for their work. There is minimal/no HR/Finance/IT departments locally - everything is now outsourced. The CEO from Germany visited my location once, and did anything and everything to not be seen by the employees. Was escorted in and out for a meeting. Couldn't even say hello to the people that work for him.

Why fix it if you can break it

Pros

Global player, interesting technology, fine colleagues

Cons

Top management just looks at PowerPoints and figures, not at what is really happening and the story behind it. Very little diversity in thoughts and idea. You either agree or you are out.
