Pros

Strongly performing company in all respects - strong growth trajectory over the past 5 years; strong profits; broad internal ownership (private stock company owned by many staff, not just a few); quality of staff, support of staff, types and diversity of clients, diversity and complexity of project work; excellent office locations, physical office and work environment; striving for diversity (in a not very diverse industry sector); very good overall compensation - double the average industry 401K contribution on top of strong salary and superior benefits.

Cons

Like many firms GEI is learning to integrate millenials into this more traditional industry that has always focused on older experienced project managers. It is making very good progress on this front, but the convergence of very sharp young engineers and scientists within a profession that requires years of experience to be given major responsibilities is a challenge.

Overall, a good place for geotechnical engineers

Pros

Ideal for engineers and geologists who have worked or have insight working with government contracts. Nearly everyone is very nice and easy to work with.

Cons

Timekeeping and project management seems to be micromanaged at the lower levels only. Projects tended to be last minute, but I think often that could have been clients' fault.

Pros

Medium sized company with that small firm feel - nimble decision making by a strong leadership team. Professional development is encouraged and achievements are recognized. The IT team seem to know what they are doing, too!

Cons

Medium sized firm with a lot of business lines means that there are limited resources available for staffing specialized projects.
