Pros

- Good pay - Good opportunity for a foot in the door for people without prior office work experience, as at the time I was hired their most important requirement was just some sort of customer service background, even if it was retail or something - good benefits

Cons

- incredible amounts of stress from both handling customers and unreasonable management metrics - horrible handling of WFH for the COVID pandemic. they were more concerned about numbers than any individuals safety, and would withhold informing employees that someone in their dept had tested positive when they returned to the office, to "keep people from panicking" - terrible communication between various departments meant more upset customers - subpar training. was frequently told during training that if I had questions I would "learn when I was out on the floor". what this meant is that I was going to possibly get an answer, most likely incorrect or outdated, from a coworker who heard it from someone else, etc. - "low cost provider" was a phrase management liked to use, but became a sarcastic thing to say when things when wrong because people couldn't be assed to do things right

Pros

Pay is good especially if you are fresh out of college.

Cons

...Where do I even start. maintaining this job was the most stressful thing I have ever had to deal with in my life. lets start with the interview process which was unheard of. I had to do a phone interview, then meet with 4 separate people, then take a math, writing, and listening test, then I had to complete an hour long simulation of the job (after 10 minutes of simple instructions), then I sorta got hired. you'll read soon why I say you are sorta hired... once you get "hired" you have to complete 10 weeks of training (3 weeks in Virginia). 10 weeks of training is fine and all but they didn't tell me I had to practically be a part time mechanic! if you come into this job knowing nothing about cars then you will fail and waste your time. I say this because the training was strictly all based on cars, you need to know every single part of the car, how it operates, and what it is made out of. Within these 10 weeks of training you take a 50 question quiz every single day based on different car parts and functions. that bad part is if you do not average an 85% on these quizzes then you are fired on the spot. When I was hired i specifically told them I knew nothing about cars and they told me "they teach you everything you need to know"... IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO LEARN EVERY SINGLE PART OF AN AUTOMOBILE IN 2 WEEKS... PLAIN AND SIMPLE. I say two weeks because we are given a textbook about every car part and function and we complete the whole textbook in 2 weeks. To make matters worse, if you even misspell a word it is incorrect (i forgot a letter in 'Coolant Reservoir' and it was deemed wrong). The only people that succeed in this job are people that have mechanic backgrounds. I finished with an 84 average and I got let go for not having an 85 (maybe if I got credit for the word i misspelled I might still have a job right now). Also in Virginia you need an 85 average to even take the final... and if you get less than an 85 on the final you are FIRED. So even if you get a 100 on every quiz for 5 weeks, you can still get fired for scoring an 84.9 on the 100 question final. And there is no leeway, it doesn't matter if you are the most skillful person for this job you WILL be fired for scoring less than an 85. Geico is a absolutely horrible place to work and I really feel bad for anyone that even attempts to work here. Unheard of.
