Pros

Flexible schedule Some good people make it bearable Paid benefits Stable employment

Cons

Company culture sucks you dry Would not recommend working here Management plays favorites (Incompetent people get promoted that suck up) Below average compensation Much of management is condescending and cannot figure out things themselves but push the work down with tight deadlines causing overtime Front end people do all the lifting while management gets heavy kickbacks Management and employees that are competent tend to leave Waste industry in general has ethical issues they need to deal with Disorganized and chaotic (Have worked for 8 other companies in similar roles this was the worst)

Pros

Company pays well for an experienced person, benefits are good, and management is fairly hands off allowing for an autonomous experience.

Cons

Lacks in upper management skill. Business plan is based upon market share, with little to no regard for the quality of service, or profit margins, at least for mid-small companies. Training is little to none, and company does not encourage employees to learn about the industry, but to keep that knowledge for themselves, and control their drones to get the work done as per their standards, which are low.

Pros

I genuinely can't think of any pros

Cons

Disclaimer before reading this long-winded paragraph: For anyone who is looking to get your CPA and will be working in this department, PLEASE double check that the job title and description will count towards your CPA report. There have been multiple instances where these clowns have lied to people’s faces during job interview that their role will count towards CPA when it absolutely will not. So please email someone from the CPA team with your job title and description. The tax department was one of the worst places that I have worked at, and most the problems stem from the management team in charge of the department. Just a miserable group of people whose only goal is to make you as miserable as they are. From the moment you start working, they will make virtually no effort to make you feel like you belonged there, and they will just outright ignore you and it doesn’t help that the managers have their own little exclusive private club that you can’t be a part of unless you do some serious ass-kissing. As far as communication and organization goes, it’s virtually non-existent and you will be stuck dealing with multiple issues that should have been fixed if a more competent group of people were in charge and you will find yourself filling tax amendments every month since everything is so unorganized, which leads to inaccurate numbers. You're also going to find yourself lonely but don’t bother trying to talk to the other employees, as they heavily frown upon people talking and laughing with one another (unless it’s them that are talking and laughing with each other). It also doesn’t help that micromanagement is the preferred style for these clowns, which means that they will be breathing down your neck at every possible moment they can. If you don’t CC the managers on any email, they will let you know. If you go even 5 minutes over your lunch break, they will let you know. If you even think about leaving on time, they will let you know. Do not even try and make a mistake because they will make sure to the entire department that you made a mistake, but if any of the managers make a mistake, they will just sweep it under the rug and will genuinely act like they are perfect and that it’s everyone else who are idiots. There’s so much more that needs to be said but it would take too much of my time, so I’m just going to leave it there. Unsurprisingly, there is a very high turnover rate (especially for a department that only has 10-15 people in it), and I can recall a 3-month period in which 4 people had quit and 1 person had relocated to a different department despite it not paying as much.
