Pros

They offer discount and good benefits

Cons

You are expected to do absolutely everything...sales, management, loss prevention, resets, planograms, training, janitor, register, etc. There is no balance of family and work. Sales goals are insane, there are so many and they are constantly adding more! Much more negative feedback than positive, even when positive is given it is destroyed with all the negative. No respect from upper management and very micromanaged. You are treated like a child and made to feel incompetent. Very discouraging place to work, wears you down physically, mentally and emotionally! Not enough clerical hours for part time and turnover rate is the highest I've ever seen because of the demands. If someone quits or doesn't show there is no one to cover except manager yet you are never supposed to go into overtime.

Pros

Allowed me an avenue to learn from an experience what I chose to. Also I needed the management expereince to move on in the business world.

Cons

The sales pressure is insane for the amount of compensation. Not to mention the salary is low and the items that you do make commission on are not the items that GNC wants you to sell to meet sales goals. Obviously this creates a huge conflict of interest for sales associates not to mention leaves the customer, not always with the best product, but rather the product the store needed to sale to get its numbers.

Pros

ability to make salary plus commission

Cons

Management makes it into a high stress sales job... not worth the money. Instead of giving people the best product for their money, you are forced to sell them GNC premier products. The company has aweful metrics for measuring sales goals. They all contradict eachother and different promotions alter the ability to meet sales goals. However the goals always remain anear the same numbers.
