Pros

GolfTEC offers fantastic training for the golf teaching business. They have a good model in place for helping people improve and I enjoy using their teaching equipment which includes a motion-measurement vest, launch monitor, and video feedback program. Also the ability to work in the golf business and have one weekend day off as well as all major holidays off is a big plus.

Cons

I wish the compensation was higher. Certified Coaches earn a hourly wage and commission on lesson/practice plans and merchandise sold. I wish the commission percentage was higher.

Pros

Probably the best training and company systems that are available anywhere in golf instruction businesses. Upper management at corporate all came up through the ranks and are in touch with the day-to-day of the coach's work. They are passionate about truely proving the best golf instruction available anywhere.

Cons

There are some differences between corporate and franchise locations. I work at a corporate location and it is very steady and predictable. I have heard many horror stories from some franchise locations (but some are also good). Do your homework before accepting a job and know who you'll be working for! Because of the structure of the business, coaches usually max out their income at $60,000/yr. If you want to make more you need to be a manager and develop your team into all stars.
