Don't work in the Southeast Florida Market

Pros

Work inside when it's hot and you get two days off a week with one being a weekend day. You can meet a lot of good guys that are pro's and trying to make it in the business. The training is good especially if you are a new teacher.

Cons

It is a job with very little integrity. The company could really care less about its employees or clients. All they care about is making the next sell and how much money they can drag out of anyone's pocket. The manager in South Florida is the worst I have ever worked for. I saw 13 employees rotate through the market in a 2 year period all because of the manager for the Southeast market. Management at corporate will not fire him because his numbers are good and that is only because he will walk all over his employees to make a sale and make himself look better. The pay is an hourly rate of about $12 and commission that the manager can give out at his discretion. After putting 3 years into the company they refused to pay me for my last month of commission because they said it was up to their discretion. The insurance benefits are terrible. There is no career path. All is all I just wouldn't recommend anyone to work in the southeast Florida market until they get rid of the manager. I really don't expect the southeast Florida market to be around too much longer as they have lost money for the last 5 years.

Pros

You get to teach golf lessons indoors most of the time and stay out of the heat if you are in warm climate areas.

Cons

Overall I think GolfTEC is an average company to work for. They think that they are the best job in the golf biz but I don't think that is the case. Full time there is 48-50 hrs a week before you add other special events, meetings, etc. When you are a TP, you are a salesman first, instructor a distant second. If you can sell, don't sell golf lessons, sell products in other industries where you make more than 4% commission. When you end up taking your base salary, commission split and bonus, if any, and divide it by the hours worked, you are not making that much.
