Pros

Highly qualified leadership team working alongside employees. Employees continually demonstrate the core values (e.g. ambitious yet humble, patients first, working with high integrity, collaborating across disciplines). Partnerships with several world class research hospitals (Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic) and Pharma companies. Sufficient funding to support the conduct of unprecedented clinical studies. Transparency of communication. Ability to pivot to different job roles over time. Maintenance of high data integrity and security throughout the data lifecycle. Silicon Valley startup environment; like a cross between Google and early Genentech.

Cons

It is difficult to find enough qualified individuals to join the team, quick enough, to support the increasing amount of work being planned.

Looks pretty on paper but 1B is being squandered

Pros

Strong skills in technology and genetic sequencing (with help from Illumina) Slick and tech-y feel, straight out of a Silicon Valley episode Some really book-smart people with reputable academic pedigree Has all the outward "things" (free lunch, pretty space, chariot rideshare, gameroom, good pay, equity potential, amazing PR and marketing, a pretty mission statement)

Cons

Lack of attention to patient data protection bordering on unethical Inadequate project planning and lack of sustainable product strategy Inexperience conducting clinical research in a regulated environment Blatent disregard for quality control and compliance (disguised as "the grail way") Highly politicized, money driven environment

Pros

Culturally enlightened, inspiring management with a great vision and execution plan. Incredibly talented coworkers with the highest level of engagement and professionalism. If anyone can succeed in this field, it will be GRAIL. So much more meaningful and engaging than other places I've been.

Cons

Few, except that early detection is an incredible challenge and is a high stakes gamble. Come with acceptance of those odds and be ready to contribute for the common good.
