GSK's Ugly Step-Child - Consumer Healthcare
Pros
Easy job that does not impact work/life balance. Not hard to create inroads to customers because the DTC advertisements help pave the way for brand recognition. GSK Consumer Healthcare is not a complete reflection of GlaxoSmithKline.
Cons
Salary for field sales employment is not competitive. Past experience has very little (if any at all) relevance when negotiating salary or title, so therefore experienced professionals are given entry level offers. Acquisition of new skills or certificates is not recognized unless it has been subscribed by company. Management lacks significant leadership training and experience. Management lacks a diverse composition and is not committed to advocating opportunities for its team members. Compensation does not provide quarterly bonus. Job promotions are the result of biased reviews by competing managers and are limited to an employee's singular, best accomplishment. No sales performance rankings. Senior leadership is not forthright or honest about its intentions. Its claim of transparency is a façade. No pathways or programs for professional development or recognition. DE&I discussions are performative, at best.
