      Pros

      Good salaries High professional environment Great benefits and incentives Good internal communications Opportunity to growth Open door policy among employees Opportunity/ Optional of having access to medicines

      Cons

      Long and extended work hours No very flexible for vacation time Merge between GSK and SmithKline was still very evident between employees from both sides. New philosophy was still difficult to manage among employees from SK.

      Complex and challenging work Intelligent and talented colleagues to work with and learn from Strong corporate culture in Finance Ample opportunities to climb the career ladder, if you so desire

      Cons

      Difficult to transfer quickly to opportunities in the US, because of the 18 month rule. Some employees are '100% fat' ie. they give little value to GSK. If GSK was to make these employees redundant, they would most likely not find employment at the renumeration level they were on and would struggle to sell themselves in the wider job market.

      Good opportunities to travel Relaxed atmosphere Great facilities for staff including company sports complex. Easy to get involved in the social side of work.

      Cons

      Very little to complain about in my department ("IT") Little opportunity to move from contractor to full time but treated much the same excluding benefits.
