Pros

Relatively good pay Lots of smart people Stocked kitchen and lunch every day Interesting problems to solve. Fairly good benefits and medical

Cons

Absolutely no technical leadership While the codebase has severe technical problems that hinders the company's core need (being fast, as it's a high frequency company) in my years there no one ever took a step to solve this. Every couple of years there are cutbacks where usually about 10% of the company are let go. Time tracking system where you're required to report how you spent your time Very few chances for promotion. Projects are assigned to people rather than teams. Once you're in charge of something you're probably in charge of the forever.

Pros

- The work is challenging, and there's literally never a boring day - Given the company's size, even with the title "Software Developer" you get to wear many hats and grow your technical experience both breadth-wise and depth-wise - My experience with management is fantastic, and my manager is receptive to all of my career and technical goals, especially when it comes to choosing projects to prioritize

Cons

- No cons just yet
