Stacking the Deck on Glassdoor

Pros

Gainsight once was a great place to work and still has many wonderful, smart, dedicated people, but there are also some that do not understand the concept of some of their core Values: "Success for All " and "The Golden Rule." Unfortunately, many are in executive positions and some very questionable decisions have been made that impact the employees. Layoffs were done in 2023 and previously dedicated "Gainsters" have departed. Many more are seeking new positions. Buy yet...

Cons

One has to wonder why a staggering 36 five star Glassdoor reviews were given by employees in the space of roughly 2 weeks. Meaningful, truthful reviews are given when an employee or former employee is inspired to do so, not as a result of some orchestrated campaign to boost ratings. That is reprehensible and just degrades the validity of Glassdoor.

Gainsight Response

First of all, I'm really sorry for what you've experienced - I think everyone's experience is inherently valid, so I own responsibility for not delivering for you. I also think you giving us this feedback is an incredible gift. It shows how much you care and helps me get better as a CEO. You are truly a high integrity person for sharing this. Your points are still important. Being in my 11th year of Gainsight (!), I know how important it is to constantly recommit to our values and investigate if we are really living them. Values are easy in good times and hard in tough times. But they are the most important when things aren't going great in the economy. As we are in a really tough environment for selling to tech, I've been thinking recently about what we need to do now to make sure we're living our values. And it starts with the exec team for sure. I can't promise things on the business side - sales go up and down, the need for profit only goes up, hiring and cuts are tied to this cycle, etc. These are just the realities of business when you have investors (whether VC, PE or public). But we can make sure we make tough decisions AND not forget about our values. As you know, my personal challenges outside of work have been more than I can really bear. This has given me more empathy for people who are struggling, since I've led a very privileged and lucky life til last year. As such, I'm really sorry for the pain I've caused you and look forward to getting to a point where you are having a great experience again. If you're ever comfortable talking 1-1, don't hesitate to ping me! Til then, be well. P.S. We aren't doing a big Glassdoor campaign (indeed, this year we didn't meet the criteria for number of reviews Glassdoor needs for a company of our size). But that doesn't take away from the importance and validity of your experience.

Pros

Benefits are great, big focus on work-life balance

Cons

Accountability issues result in a lot of being reactive instead of proactive.
