      Pros

      Customers who leveraged Gartner and invested time speaking with Gartner analysts reaped huge benefits and ROIs regarding technology strategy, planning and execution.

      Cons

      Sales reps run in mud. Gartner's CRM system is from the 80s, no enterprise level view of your clients, constantly creating slides for internal reviews, lots of pom poms and rah rah and koolaid drinking, a cult of positivity where only wins are celebrated and losses and high staff turn over are never discussed. Only move up is into sales management which is overhead.

      CRM is terrible - very disorganized with limited functionality Few career growth opportunities Sales management powerless; very little autonomy Strict criteria for advancement driven by HR Misguided metrics Pressure to create the illusion of on target metrics regardless of accuracy Prescriptive selling; no sales artistry

      - managers are more focused on promoting themselves vs. their teams - high turn over due to lack of focus and transparency on career progression - communication break down between recruitment managers / hr / finance - bad game of telephone - managers are not equipped at mentoring / leading / developing their teams - glorified delegators - experience outside of Gartner isn’t considered for internal promotions - managers lack prioritization and ability to communicate areas to focus resulting in misalignment amongst teams
