Pros

can build solid relationships with other reps based on your same terrible experiences. You use to be able to say the company's growth was a positive but that has stalled and now the leadership team is micro managing every step and making the job worse than its ever been (and it been pretty terrible at times). as a boomerang you would expect t get some level of respect and all you get is a junior manager down your throat all day to fill out useless trackers and then when you don't you get reprimanded like you are a child ( but many MSE employees are legit children)

Cons

fake pipeline, fake deals, fake POC's, fake sales tactics, fake personalities from leadership and literally the worst RVP you could imagine working for. She knows nothing about the industry, client, persona's, products and would rather PIP and plan people then admit that Gartner is at the very most a nice to have vs. a must have. they will send a survey out to their teams and force people to fill it out and then once they are honest and the feedback is terrible they get mad and gaslight you.

Pros

The pay and experience. They paid fairly well and you learn a lot in terms of how to facilitate account research.

Cons

-terrible managers. Overbearing, manipulative, micro managing tendencies. A micromanager is annoying sure, but on top of that, they stunt their employees’ growth by being this way. It’s impossible to fail and learn when you’re being told exactly what to do all the time. You don’t think of the customer or go with your gut instinct. You think of the 100 ways your manager will try and trip you up. Terrible practice. Even the “favorite” on my team complained about this. I come from a strong sales background and now work at a Fortune 100 company. I’ve never experienced such poor management. Managers are also unprofessional—texted me while on vacation about non urgent matters (first day off in 10 months too). ZERO work life balance even when you create your own boundaries. Wish I could call out by name but my advice is to avoid selling the GHRL product. -does not practice what they preach. They have so much great research but they don’t act on the same advice they give our customers. -you will work around the clock. While I was there, I worked 90 hour weeks consistently. When I finally quit, so many people have reached out about their experiences there—all of which were the same. “I’d rather take a major pay cut than continue on with this.” -almost none of my original onboarding/academy class is still there. They have a major retention issue. -culture is poor to put it lightly. Everyone is worked to death and there are no lighthearted dialogues. -my only regret is not quitting sooner. Gartner did some irreparable damage to my self worth but I feel great knowing there are employers who recognize my strengths and trust me to run my business.

Pros

Benefits are good. Lots of PTO. Flexible work environment. If you are in the Fort Myers area already, there are few jobs that provide more opportunity than this one. From a training perspective, they invest a lot in you upfront and have been putting more programs in place to support tenured sales reps as they strive to improve their performance. If you have decent sales skills, a manager / VP that will invest in you, and a fruitful territory, you will be rewarded handsomely and celebrated. Further, if you are successful, you can expect a plethora of opportunities to open up for you - management positions, field roles across the country, etc.

Cons

(1) Inconsistent management. As many of the other reviews have said, your success at Gartner depends on your manager. Many managers here were fantastic sales people, but don't have the softer qualities required to lead and inspire people. They also tend to skew very young and have little experience outside of the Gartner universe. As a result, their abilities to manage a full team tend to be inadequate and often lead to disparate treatment of their team members. Further, it is fairly clear that many of them cannot articulate exactly why they, and others, have been successful, and what their process looks like in comparison to core or poor performers. (2) Unequal opportunity within territories. If you are not in a vertical, good luck hitting Winner's Circle (it has been multiple years since anyone who was on an industry-agnostic team for a full 12 months hit WC). Further, even within the verticals, the same territories tend to produce WC reps year-over-year. Bottom line - factors within your control (sales acumen, coachability, hard work, etc) are only one factor in what contributes to your success at Gartner. (3) Feedback / honesty isn't always appreciated. It depends on who it comes from (are you performing well?), and whether that member of management feels like embracing inconvenient truths. If they don't, chances are high that your concerns will be written off. (4) Culture*. This is a polarizing culture. There are definitely people who thrive in this culture - which is fantastic. However, it's not for everyone. Personal boundaries aren't always respected, and the previous comments that the environment is like a fraternity house are spot on. Again, some people love that and do extremely well here, while having a great time. However, many others.....don't.
