Pros

Working at Gartner is slightly better than being unemployed and homeless. Although, Stamford is building a new homeless shelter that is way better than my apartment now. So once that opens, this Pro will no longer be valid.

Cons

Put it this way, the whole place is a con. But until you find that next opportunity, you keep your head down and wait. Or hope that the rapture happens soon. Unless the rapture did happen, and I am stuck in hell...would explain a lot actually.

Pros

- Good friendly people - Company has a great reputation

Cons

- No matter how good you are at your job, it will not be noticed unless you are strong at political games, and suck up to the right people - being successful is as simple as writing an email at the end of the week to your boss, saying you turned up to work 5 days this week (forgetting the fact you didn't actually do anything) - Aggressive growth plan, and are big on recruitment yet have no real desire to manage and hold on to existing staff. Turnover is very high - they have a real mix of quality employees, and some of the worst i have ever encountered. You can easily coast by in this company, and will not be at risk. If you are bad at your job but suck up to the right people you will be protected - change is not that easy. Every decision is made by committee and their is no transparency - no coaching / training is offered to help advance your career. The job you are hired for is where they see you and where they want you to stay - becoming extremely metric driven across all business units. Although quality is discussed, it is down to the numbers game - Promotions are rare, and the managers in leadership positions are extremely weak and not strong enough to drive the business forward - very heavy focus on the Sales division, with other divisions completely ignored

Pros

It's not unusual to find tenures of 10 or 20 years here, or people who decided to try something else for a while but then came back to Gartner. At the same time, the company is growing so there are always new faces and new ideas, and receptivity to fresh perspectives. The simplest way to say it is that Gartner is a company that does the right thing. The culture is collegial, the politics are kept to a minimum, the people are smart, and the best ideas usually win. It is scrupulously ethical in its business activities, respects its employees and treats us fairly, supports career and personal development goals, all while encouraging us to achieve more. I've been here over a decade and still love it.

Cons

Strong bias toward working in the office
