Pros

You get paid on time, does that count?

Cons

Executive leadership has so many egos and infighting they throw money at promotions for undeserving individuals to have people right their coattails and build their kingdom. Micromanagement to the nth degree Nothing actually gets accomplished Clients for years have paid for Gartner because of the perception they are the best. With the way they've treated employees the last two years and silent layoffs word has spread and clients are leaving in droves because our ideas are behind the times. Pay used to be decent. Now they're paying for VPs on a director salary. You get what you pay for.

Pros

Great place to learn a lot, surrounded by incredibly bright minds, culture encourages open feedback and support, product is valued by many clients. Benefits are great, generous PTO starting at 20 days and increased with tenure. Would recommend Gartner to someone early in their career. Locking in your "brand" early on is a necessity, which is nice if you know how to play the game, but otherwise associates are questioned about their contribution by not having a distinguishable brand.

Cons

A lot of politics internally and management typically promotes those they favor. I have seen many employees across CSO be promised promotions and then wait over a year, sometimes 2, to see it happen. I have gone far outside of my job description and worked countless hours away from my clients in order to receive a promotion at Gartner. Challenges are heard but never acted on, and leadership will hold skip level meetings that end up being the exact same conversations every single time. Pay is not competitive, associates are expected to make up for sub-par onboarding training for those joining their teams, and often for AEs.
