      Pros

      benefits are great, employees are generally sharp and engaged.

      Cons

      Management, at least in my department, was split b/w SSF and Basel and getting anywhere involves lots of politics and depends on who you know more then on what you bring to the table.

      - The company is truly patient focused, and you will help develop medicines to save change lives - Great benefits - If you work hard and provide novel solutions, and you can progress quickly - Good work life balance compared to other large pharma - knowledgeable senior management - many true global experts in biotechnology - exciting science and technology

      Cons

      - decision making is slow and overly bureaucratic -gRED has slowed down a bit in the last few years, making the value of the other development functions more questionable in the context of the expensive Bay Area to Roche
