Great Benefits, Good Sense of accomplishment. Six Week Sabbatical every six years, 18 days vacation per year, non limited sick time (up to 6 occurrences per year).
Cons
Very political. Owned by Roche and budgeting is tight for non-research non-manufacturing departments. Performance is only a small part of advancement, you also have to please people (i.e. management) in order to advance.

We appreciate your thoughtful comments. We’re happy to be able to offer competitive benefits & programs to our employees.
Thank you as well for your thoughts on performance reviews. While annual reviews are used as a means to measure milestones and goal accomplishments, they are also intended to provide rich feedback and to engage in valuable discussion. If you feel your reviews are meaningless, you might want to speak with your manager about getting real time feedback and coaching, which may be more beneficial for your development.
The pay and benefits are rewarding and competitive, and Genentech continues to find ways to appreciate the contributions of employees. The culture is focused on the science, and I do believe that every employee cares about the patients.
Cons
It can be difficult to maintain an adequate work/life balance. This is pretty dependent on your immediate management. The culture overall encourages it, but it varies between departments.
