Pros

They had the best benefits and really take care of their employees- lots of freebies

Cons

Really no big cons. The location is a bit out there for those in the South Bay

Pros

Awesome benefits, culture and fun but be ready to put in a lot of hours. Motto is work hard, play hard, save lives.

Cons

Depends on group you work in but more and more is being outsourced. If part of R&D or Commercial probably OK more so than others.

Pros

Colleagues were nice, friendly and helpful. Attitudes of scientists were more focused on the science and helping people than making money.

Cons

Once Genentech was purchased by Roche, benefits were decreasing and employees were becoming more dissatisfied with the attitude of the highest management. Jobs are kept as contract positions and this means that even when a contractor performs extremely well and would be a proven asset to the company, that person cannot be hired unless a regular employee quits and the contractor is the most senior contractor in the department.
