      Work life balance and good benefits

      Cons

      The divide has become to big for departments while going through a company wide reorganization. Some groups are still golfing at the ritz for the week while other groups are denying on campus learning and development courses due to budget constraints.

      Pros

      Decent vacation policy (18 days, does not increase with years experience). Groups outside Research and Development seem to be happy.

      Cons

      Poor social skills of many employees. Big egos of many of the scientists/directors. Seeing difficulty attracting industry talent (mostly just hire fresh out of school or postdoc) because of mediocre compensation vs cost of living. Too much arrogance causing a lack of improvement relative to competitors. Innovation is not stronger than competitors now; playing catch up in most areas. Lack of differentiation with competitors causing much underhanded maneuvering between groups in order to appear innovative. Research and Development make much a small portion of total work force, so poor happiness and engagement scores are covered up by the rest of the company who are happy apparently (according to surveys).
