Pros

Genentech used to be a place with dogs, free expression, the CEO's well-known disdain for powerpoint presentations, and beers at 3pm. It was the world's most startuppy corporation. Since the Roche acquisition, those days are long gone, but Genentech is still a fantastic place to work in terms of benefits, thought leadership, and company focus.

Cons

Not many, really. Top pay. Smart people. Things can be pretty sucky if you're a contractor, but aside from that, I'd say the only downside is typical red tape and politics, which you'll find at any company.

Pros

Traning and development opportunities are fantastic. Benefits are amazing. Great feeling about helping patients with unmet medical needs.

Cons

Career growth is limited. Politics are brutal (with the merger with Roche). Work-life balance is nonexistent if you want to advance.
