Pros

The benefits, salary, bonus and people-management support were all fantastic. Week of giving back and concert at AT&T park are phenomenal.

Cons

The work was extremely stressful and competitive all the time. It was very difficult to maintain any form of work/life balance.

Great benefits, little room for internal growth in R&D

Pros

Great benefits including shuttle buses, free food, on-sight gym with free classes, on-sight day care, good travel policies. Good vacation time and flexible hours. Good 401K match. Good parties! Science is interesting and cutting edge. Feels very academic at times.

Cons

Salaries do not cover the high cost of living in the Bay Area. Little room for growth; internal promotions were rare and only for superstar scientists. Work can be monotonous at times. High pressure research environment with intense presentations every few years. Employees not allowed to regularly work from home.
