Pros

The company goals are truly great - doing now what patients need next. That tag line is everywhere. And Genentech is holding on to it's work hard, play hard motto which results in many fun activities. It is a great place for junior employees who want to work a lot of hours and have a good time while being around many smart people. The on site amenities - good cafeterias, career center, healthcare, etc; make it a great place to work.

Cons

It is very difficult to move up especially since the company is being hit very hard financially due to market pressures. Also, new management is being brought in from outside esp in IT that does not really nurture the environment of trust and support of employees that made the company so great to begin with.

Great facilities in some parts of the campus, food is excellent, people in roles that are not global are happy, most individuals are great, and lots of employee perks

Cons

Global roles are very challenging with non-stop hours, impossible decision making, and leadership perspective that Genentech is just another affiliate now to Basel HQ.
