Pros

Great work-life balance. Very competitive pay and industry-leading employee benefits, an amazing campus with shuttle buses, an onsite gym, dozens of delicious cafeterias, Ho Ho parties, onsite dental daycare nail and spa salon golf truck. Sabbaticals every 6 years.

Cons

Many great scientists left over the years the ones who stayed often tended to be arrogant, incompetent, and still live in their bubble, which resulted in below-than-industry-average R&D productivity. There have been so many failures with limited success in recent years, Lampa, lebri, Etro, PTX-2, Ipat, pralsetinib, cancer vaccine, and sky06. You can't always blame Roche for failures. Rarely was management held accountable for the horrible decision-making and the dysfunctional reward system

Pros

The benefits were very good, including shift differentials, healthcare, 401k, etc. Being part of a great team was wonderful and a great learning experience. Pay was very fair. Made lots of good memories there.

Cons

Upper management is very unpredictable and often would not listen or find ways to assist when being short-staffed. If anything, they seemed to make the work life more difficult and expected consistently high output of work despite losing a team mate, leading to burnout and stress. Your experience, including the culture, is incredibly dependent on the teammates and location.
