Pros

There are so many pros to working here. First, it's the people. The coworkers are grounded and well informed. Furthermore, I felt like most of the people had a similar personality, which made it easier to work each other without conflict, or at least less conflict. Second, the environment is so stimulating. One feels like they are in some sci fi movie the moment he/she enters the building. Third, the benefits are amazing! Good luck to anyone interviewing and congratulations to anyone who has received an offer. Do not reject this wonderful place! I only left because I had to relocate more than 300 miles.

Cons

I cannot think of anything bad to say about working here. If one is working in the Manufacturing Department, there will be odd work hours (swing shift or grave shift), but this is not a con of Genentech, it is just the format of manufacturing. I did not have any bad experiences working here.

Pros

Great-ish pay and benefits...that's about it.

Cons

1. If you are at Genentech Hillsboro or other remote site, don't expect to go anywhere. No vertical or horizontal mobility. Relocation has been removed so chances of moving to South San Francisco is zero to none. 2. Leadership Team detached from people in line functions. HR is non-existent in Hillsboro site. 3. Too much bureaucracy. Decisions take forever to be made. 4. Not a lot of promotion from within. External hires are given priority rather than growing talent from within.
