Pros

- Low traffic area - Generally friendly co-workers - Remodeled corporate building - Financially stable/growing company - If you do your job, you don't get harassed much

Cons

I think a lot of people come here from other industries and get a culture shock. Generally speaking: nothing is done "best-in-class" at Generac, meaning you can put the best solution on the table and everyone in the room knows it's the best solution. Then you look at the price tag and shrink away, because you know the executives aren't going for it, so why even try. A lot of things are solved with "lets do it ourselves...how hard can it be...why do we have to pay someone else to do it?" So we do things ourselves and they come out half-cocked, because...we never did it before and we get some solution that sort of works...FOR TODAY. During first few years of my employ, I made suggestions about implementing certain things that a normal company would (I'm being intentionally vague here so I don't give my position away) and it went no where. Even my director recognized some things needed improving, presented a case to the higher ups and was told "I don't see a problem: come back when there actually is one I can see". I'm now basically complacent and just do the status quo of whatever the company wants me to do. If you are looking to "change the world", it likely won't happen here.

Pros

Variety in projects, project scope is larger than most companies (you get more exposure to more aspects of the project), project subject material is cool for an ME

Cons

Middle management doesn't have a clue what they are doing.

Pros

The remodel looks nice. There are finally bathrooms that I'm not afraid to use.

Cons

If you are not into playing political games...stay away. I was moved from one position to another to another because of "restructuring". Had my sales bouns taken away without additional compensation. If you do not promote yourself, your accomplishments will not be noticed or recognized. So toot your own horn loud and long...doesn't matter if it is real or true. My supervisor (a VP) didn't know what his empolyees duties were, so he had the department administrator compelte his portion of the departmental reviews. They were based on how much she liked you...not performance. If you don't like the smell of the septic tank...this isn't the place for you. The pumper truck is there like once a week to pump out the septic tank, I had to plug my nose on the walk from my car to the back door or gag from the smell.
