Pros

Benefits are great. Professional Development and tuition reimbursement have been helpful for expanding my options.

Cons

Work/Life balance is atrocious. When hired we discussed 6 months deployed, 6 months home with occasional deviations for training or if they company needed. I will have been gone for 12 of 14 months in the near future. Much of management is in the position they are in because they have been with the company long enough and were willing to take massive pay cuts to not deploy anymore, not because of any leadership qualities. Rules will often be overlooked if they are inconvenient to enforce.

Not a place for innovation

Pros

HQ is in San Diego, 9/80, pension, hybrid work

Cons

The company has settled into carbon copying old designs. It's a design that works, and people are quite proficient in their iteration of the design, but technological advancement isn't a consideration. You won't be technically challenged here. Diversity is quite low, there are no in office perks (not even coffee), and there is so much dead weight in the company. 5% of the company does 95% of the work. People are rarely enthusiastic about their job, and the energy of the company is dull. I think that management can still pivot and pursue something new and exciting, but it's unlikely. Seems like all the eggs are into the carbon copy effort. The crack in the foundation was MQ-25. Hopefully they can revive it, but I think the sun is setting for GA-ASI.
