Pros

- WLB is good. - 9/80 schedule

Cons

- Low Pay. SW2 will make 80-100k? - Tech is not there. Will be working on C/C++ from 1998, so not Modern C++ - Outdated processes like SVN, no scrum, CI/CD, or unit tests. Only manual integration tests - Code Reviews are almost non-existent - Have to keep going into office when there is COVID, so pretty unsafe and gives insight into upper management’s priorities - Raises are small(3-7%) and expect like a 2k bonus - Cafeteria is pretty overpriced. They say it’s “subsidized”, but it costs 10+ a meal. - Work is in Poway, so that absolutely blows too

Pros

Work was interesting on the right team. Fortunately, I worked on couple of cool projects. Pension is nice if you are happy staying on your team for a few years. Coworkers are all intelligent, nice, hard working people who always seemed happy to help.

Cons

Culture can be toxic on the wrong team. My project/team Sprints were very fast paced relative to what the DoD industry usually has. Technology stack is pretty stagnant. Adding modern development tools into the development process would greatly increase efficiency and better align with what students use in school nowadays.
