Pros

Working for the best shipbuilder in the US provides an excellent atmosphere to grow professionally for employees that are willing to give it their best. In the 8 years I have been at BIW, I have changed jobs 3 times, each with more responsibility and opportunity to learn and grow.

Cons

Parking can be an issue for employees assigned at the Main Yard. But the company provides free park and ride with shuttle service, and info on Pay Lots, if you do not have an assigned parking spot. Also, many employees join car pools.

Pros

Good benefits reasonable pay and a willingness to work with employees problems they identify. Friendly people and good work environment.

Cons

Government contractor working for a customer without a lot of money an arrogant government employees who have no appreciation of what it takes to do the job.

Pros

Excellent pay and benefits but at times it can be a dirty back braking job, but it is what you make of it. To work there you have to keep a sense of humor but you in time you become part of a large ever changing dysfunctional family and make life long friends. You feel enormous amount of pride watching the ship you helped build sail down the river.

Cons

Some of this new "Political Correctness" generation don't have the same work ethics that is evident in the seasoned workers and that creates problems for both co workers and management.
