      Pros

      Working on submarines, decent pay, flexible hours, shift differential for second or third shift. Promotion is very much based on seniority. Very good job security due to long term contracts

      Cons

      parking is miserable especially if you work in New London, Groton isn't a lot better unless you work the off shift. Promotion is more on seniority and not so much based on merit. Used to have a good overtime policy, but it's less attractive now. Vacation isn't competitive with other companies

      Pros

      A great company to work for. Wonderful benefits good salaries with experience. Laid out progression in your career path. Management is a good balance between money motivated management policies and general concern for it's employees. They realize that the company is only as good as it's employees.

      Cons

      Defense industry is unstable and Electric Boat must adjust it's employment staff accordingly. This means when defense is on the downside there will be layoffs..To EB's credit, they do everything they can to transfer employees to other departments where they will be useful if their particular position is one that will be cut back.

      Pros

      Excellent pay. Excellent overtime opportunities. Job stability.

      Cons

      Odd hiring principals. Generally companies with good pay pick the cream of the crop. Doesn't see to be the case here, high turn over due to bad hiring choices. Company shuts down during Christmas break. There are 6 "float" holidays you can earn during the year to avoid using PTO time or taking no pay during the shut down. Good side, you can have every Christmas and New Year off.
