      A place to breed mediocrity and get old.

      Pros

      Working with the navy is fun. Not many other jobs out there that you can say "I can fix a nuclear submarine".

      Cons

      Managers and supervisors lie about promotions and growth. They don't understand the product and business model nearly as much as everyone hopes they should. Lots of work being outsourced to retirees and consultants that are returning to fix what they broke or because of who they left in charge.

      Pros

      Competitive salaries (not the best, but okay), Decent benefits, Pride in seeing your work to completion, chance to work on projects that are challenging and important to the defense industry.

      Cons

      Senior management may have lost some perspective about customer concerns, you really could find another employer who pays better, average age of supervisors is concerning, high turnover.

      Sit and wait. High expectations. Paid training. Unionized. Full benefits and 401k, tuition assistance. Not much labor in the average 8 hr shift. Free PPE and tools. Optional overtime. Optional travel jobs. Relatively quick career progression.

      Cons

      Sit and wait. Other employees’ work/duties often halts the progression on your project. Poor communication and organization. Heavy lifting. Hot, cramped, uncomfortable. Dangerous, injury prone. High expectations. Bad training. Low wage. Parking nightmare. Battling the elements. No pension. Long-term disease prone.
