Pros

- You will join a community (work and outside life) in love with the sea. If you are a sea-loving person then you will be hard pressed to find a better place to work/build a life. - 95% of people at EB and in the general area are very pleasant. - To crib some other reviews: if you are an engineer AND not a COMPLETE idiot then you will have job security as long as EB is a company. 401K is a ridiculously good deal. - O! There are some great places to eat and drink in southeastern CT (very diverse with respect to flavors and cost)

Cons

- IF you are a SINGLE male, well, southeastern CT does not have a wealth of suitors. Some may disagree. Mind you, I am giving a subjective observation from a heterosexual view point. It may be difficult to build a family if you come to this company/area single. - To further hammer home the last point. EB has maaayyybbeee 1 female engineer for every 20 male engineers. - Along similar lines...EB and the surrounding area is predominantly white. YES, there are pockets of various other ethnic groups. BUT if you go out to most restaurants/bars..you get the point. This is not an objective con, but for me it is kind of a big deal...

Pros

Like the other reviews say, the work is stable Great place to start, not to stay, unless you're ready to settle Pretty decent pay I personally work in a great group of friendly and helpful people New London Facility is nice and scenic Good health insurance and 401K I like the immediate management, supervisors and managers are friendly (that i've dealt with, that is)

Cons

-The company "feels sneaky" (elaborate: I have a friend working in another department and the recently changed their overtime rules: unpaid for the first 5 hours beyond 40, and after 45 hrs, you are paid at your normal rate, so 5 hours of free labor, is that even legal?) - They taxed my reimbursement. (EB generously offers 15 days of reimbursed hotel stay when you start, to give you time to find a place, and they tax that amount like income. Is that even legal?) -Vacation hours (for new hires) went from 10 days to 15 days, but paid sick days went from 30 days (for new hires) to ZERO. I'm going to work even if I get the flu, no way am I using my vacation days to stay home and feel like crap. - Subtle coercion to try and get employees to work more hours by giving you more responsibilities, at the same time, some people have way too much work, and others are twiddling their thumbs, with no work to do. I've heard horror stories of senior engineers working 80+ hours a week) - I was told by a senior coworker that if you want to work for a company that cares about their employees, don't work here. - I don't like the VPs.

Pros

The product is interesting, most of the people are great to work with, and the New London facility is wonderful.

Cons

Company isn't remotely progressive - very old fashioned, salaried employees treated like hourly people. Work can be tedious, and lots of little issues can make for an unpleasant experience.
