      Good place to work if you don't want to be challenged or obtain real engineering experience.

      Pros

      A cushy job where one does not need to worry about constant layoffs. General Dynamics is a large company that has a constant supply of new work from the military. The pay is decent and the benefits package is pretty good.

      Cons

      Management rarely, if ever, acknowledges individual contribution. The work environment is very boring as General Dynamics does little to get you excited about working on the product. There is also rarely any opportunities to test and grow your skills as an engineer. You'll find yourself instead doing "paperwork" engineering.

      9/80 Work Schedule: You take every other Friday off Fairly laid back atmosphere

      Cons

      Flex time policy could be improve - not flexible enough Not a place that moves very fast - too many inneficient processes. Everything takes long to do.

      Good people, with good intentions, trying to build good products at glacial speeds

      Pros

      9/80 work schedule gets you a 3 day weekend every other week. Good people trying to build good product for American servicemembers. Great health/dental benefits, 401k, merit raise and bonus programs.

      Cons

      Government programs are glacial. Development cycles are measured in decades. If you need constant reinforcement, probably not the best place to work. Sometimes more iimportant the time (money) you spend than the product you build. Government programs are also very susceptible to cuts as administrations and military adjusts their purchasing requirements - adds volatility and drops job security as a result.
