Pros
A lot of room to find your niche
Cons
Given that the culture here was so in chaos, there was a lot of room for a person to deviate from original tasking (self created) and to find one’s area of expertise. The management was so disconnected from its workforce managing crisis management modes all the time, little was done to prepare me for success as a new hire (well, at 4 months a plan was actually formulated). Furthermore, the workforce on the LCS program was 30% temp employee’s ; says a lot about how to manage technical issues. The culture just tossed “bodies” at problems, thinking that would solve the problem. It surprised me actually to learn that less then 20 % of the workforce were actually Veterans of the arms forces. A lot of super smart book smart people, with little understanding of the military culture of how things worked. By far in my 27 years as a contractor, this was the worse program, and company I have ever worked.
