Pros

- Great if you are a contractor (ie not a real GD employee, since they get paid for their overtime) - Approachable senior management - A lot of smart people

Cons

- Long, unpaid overtime. - The 9/80 bit they try to sell to you is a lie, I know no one whose project is actually on 9/80 - They have the ability to let you telework, but it is looked down upon. - No reward for putting in extra effort or doing a good job - If you do a good job, you will be the one fixing everyone else's mistakes - Pay increase is only based on time, not performance - No sick time included in benefits, if you get sick you need to use your vacation days - They put on a good facade during your interview session, but don't be fooled by the nice hotel rooms they put you up in. - Time off is a myth at GD - Little to no acknowledgment for a job well done

Pros

Great benefits and a fairly stable environment. Great place for new grads to start as you are usually treated like any employee that has been around for a number of years.

Cons

Not much room for growth. They use outdated technology. Most programs are pretty chaotic and really behind schedule. Don't expect to be compensated in anyway if you put 110% in. It seems like the people that do no work get just as much recognition as those that do all the work.

Pros

Working at General Dynamics provides great financial stability. It is a very dependable environment and I have known far more people that move to a different position within the company instead of being laid off.

Cons

The organization is so large that many beaureaucratic elements have crept in. For example, ordering hardware or software requisite for projects is a nightmare because of the contracts with third-party companies who manage these orders, require a huge overhead, and complicates what should be a streamlined process.
