Empathy be damned

Pros

Some of the best and brightest employees, at least till they wise up and move on. Health benefits one of the top of the line. WFH

Cons

Genesys preaches "empathy", but doesn't practice. No reward for being a loyal employee. New hires are paid at the same rate of someone that has been around 10+ years. Completely kills any and all culture when buy out other companies. So glad TB can encourage employees to take time off from his 2nd Montana home, while "raises" are less than SSA COLA. But hey they'll send you a cabinet full of coffee cups. If you are a new hire, sure, absolutely apply and learn from some the best with industry leading technology. But be ready to move on after a few years because you will be underpaid and undervalued. Soak up everything you can and run for the hills. In efforts to be up to date on culture, also be prepared to be passed over for any sort of promotion or recognition if you identify as any majority, no matter how hard you work. While it is well documented and an atrocity in business as whole minorities are undervalued, Genesys has made a concerted effort to "fix" their statistics by undeserved promotions. Also if you are a VP, great place to apply as there are about 500 VPs. Bad place to be if you are a worker, but great if you are a manager with your golden parachute.

Pros

A generous Open-Time-Off policy; decent pay; flexible working hours; passionate individuals, team leads, and managers who care deeply for their jobs and their teammates; bonus structure can be very good at times; free swag on occasion.

Cons

Tony Bates has sucked the life and soul out of this company in the pursuit of profit and public opinion. It's a shell of what it once was ever since he took over as CEO in 2019. Major decisions are made and enforced with seemingly no consideration for the opinions of--or repercussions on--the employees within our own company; just our public image and our corporate bottom line. All of our offices were closed when the pandemic hit and everyone was forced to work remotely, and while the vast majority of the country has since reopened we remain closed (for an indefinite amount of time)-- supposedly for safety reasons, but I think it's more about saving money. Tony is a true businessman who is good at playing politician and feigning compassion but his actions don't match his words. The maddening irony of our current state is that senior leadership constantly spews messaging about empathy; how in order to grow as a business we have to be empathetic to our customers, yet they don't extend that empathy to people within our own company. I wish I could get more specific but if you read through enough of the other reviews on this site you'll see what I mean. Tony is a numbers guy and we are all numbers to him. Paul Segre (our former CEO) was a true leader who knew how to run a company as well as inspire and lift those around him and gave people a reason to stay at Genesys; we had amazing perks and benefits that continue to get slashed under Tony while he gloats to us about hitting our biggest numbers ever and seems to be pushing agendas that are only in place to match the current political climate. I saw another review on this site that talked about Genesys virtue signaling and that couldn't be more accurate. 3+ years ago I was working for my dream company and thought I'd never leave; but since all we seem to be focused on is the bottom line and our public image I don't trust that our company values its employees any longer--at least not at the senior leadership level. And don't bother taking any of your concerns to HR because I tried that and felt I wasn't taken seriously, which is a major reason that I'm leaving this review.

Pros

Great product demos. Great club trips.

Cons

The cloud offerings are killing my reputation in my market. The sales process is great. Post sale, the customer is always surprised to find out that the entire implementation team is overseas in Asia. Try explaining that to a CIO that just signed a six figure SOW. Implementation are long, have scope creep, and never hit their milestones. Problems are escalated and go into a black hole. The customer has to threaten to pull their contract to get any attention. Post implementation all support is based in Asia, and the product has frequent outages. I have zero happy referenceable clients and they blame me for selling them a bill of goods. It's been this way for years, they keep telling us it is going to get better.
