Pros

There are a lot of good people to learn from. The hardest part is finding them. I was able to get a fairly well-rounded experience here. I worked on a lot of interesting projects and was able to touch almost every part of them from concept design through CA. However, that took years of having to really advocate for myself and give 110% all the time. The best thing Gensler gave me was amazing friends and mentors who are still in my life years after leaving…probably because of all our late nights and shared trauma.

Cons

The overall office culture is not good. There are a few amazing people. However, there are an equal amount of insecure people trying to push you down to elevate themselves. Unfortunately, most of the people at the top are playing the same game. If you are a nice, hardworking person who really cares about doing good work, but doesn’t want to deal with office BS, this probably isn’t your place. All of my good friends and mentors have left. We were optimistic we could change the culture but after years of no improvement, we realized change needed to come from the top. To my knowledge, the culture is the same, maybe worse post-COVID.
