Pros

Recognition, care for employees, visibility, help and support, fun activities, fun people I received a ton of support from upper management in pursuing any activities or competitions from within the organisation including research possibilities, different projects and finally higher education.

Cons

Extra long hours (typical for architecture), management is poor at planning and scheduling, high expectations, HR is quite bad.

Pros

To be honest, I'm not sure. Every week is a different drama. I appreciate the studio directors that are being flexible with the studio members on the 5 days a week in the office policy. It's just a ridiculous company policy.

Cons

- They merged the studios from 4 to 2. Meaning, there is less opportunity to move up and get promoted. There is a bunch of mid-level/senior architects/designers that will never move up. - The office is outdated. Lighting, Air quality, break rooms, acoustic (loud people on calls). As an architectural firm, its unbelievable that they don't understand this. How all of these impact our productivity in the office. - Work/Life balance sucks. They make unrealistic promises to clients. I get it, Gensler is money hungry. But the only people that suffer through this are the people doing the drawings. - Coffee machine is broken 50% of the time - Gensler San Diego in general is on the lower end of salaries. Most employees get 3-5% raises every year. Considering it will take many many years to move up in the company, you will never make a big jump in salary. Whereas, you can easily switch jobs for a good 10-20% raise. - The bonuses are good, but I seen bigger bonuses from other firms. Its not big enough for employees to suffer through 5 years in order to get 100% of their bonus. A lot of employees leave before they hit their 5 year mark. - Every single meeting needs to be hybrid. Stop forcing people to meet in person. You can't even get clients to come to your office. - They been trying to hire practice area leaders for years, but just cant find them I guess. Staffing has been light for the past 6 months. - Gensler in general really needs performance-based incentives. Tired of seeing useless employees getting big raises and promotion because they know the right people
