Pros

The culture at Gensler is accomdating for all ages. There are millenials and there are baby boomers, but everyone always has fun together. The environment inspires creativity and growth. Every office is unique, but we are one-firm-firm.

Cons

Sometimes the flow of communication from the principals to the rest of the firm is not gone about in the best way possible.

Creativity & Collaboration

Pros

Gensler allows me to be a creative designer in a highly collaborative environment without the arrogance of big male egos in a typical architectural firm. There is a great work-life balance and attention to staff development. The organization is horizontal which can be an adjustment for people who are used to hierarchy but it affords everyone an opportunity to do their best design work.

Cons

I have no cons - who can say that about their employer?!

It's Big

Pros

It's big, has good name recognition and brand

Cons

Promotion process is very political and arbitrary. Too much compensation is determined by bonuses and not base salary. Overtime is typically mandatory and not compensated, or recognized. We help our clients design great places to work, but often times our own offices fall far short of what we promote as good workplaces to our clients.
