Pros

I've met and worked with people from various offices around the firm, and they are, by and large, some of the nicest, most helpful people I've ever met. I can send out an e-mail to someone who've never spoken to and get a timely and supportive response. Also, we have the best IT people.

Cons

Our compensation's known to be a bit lower than the market rate, but I think the company culture more than makes up for the dollar amount difference.

The story of Gensler starts with it's found Arthur Gensler. He created an amazing culture of a professional services firm that seeks to service the client, not our designer egos.

Cons

Sometimes Arthur's vision can get lost in the drum of everyday interactions with clients and coworkers. Most people come to Gensler because of its amazing portfolio of work, but most of the day to day work is not quite as glamorous.

You will learn new skills and add the biggest name in design to your CV. It will open many doors to you. Stay for the name then jump to more fun and inclusive firms.

Cons

Bureaucratic, governed by office politics. If you believe in your own design skills and views this is not the place for you. At gensler you are, like in any large firm of this size, just a number in a money making machine. Its like joining a scientology cult. Not suitable for designers who enjoy having a voice. Everyone is there fighting for the next round of promotions or bonuses. If you put your head down and quietly be part of the machine you might go up very quick.
