Pros

Opportunity to work on high level projects when in an "analyst" role. Ability to report out to senior management. Respectable benefits and ability to take time off. Genworth has consolidated recently and put smart people in middle to mid-upper management. However, senior/upper management still has yet to prove themselves post-GE and cherrypicks their favorites despite performance or ability.

Cons

The 2009 layoffs was done poorly in process and selection. Minimal communication between business units and between business units and corporate. Very little training. Somewhat difficult to move up through company unless outspoken about abilities (left-over from GE). Expect long hours despite department, but especially in Finance. Work-life balance is not very good.

Pros

Benefits are better than average.

Cons

Poorly managed. Everyone is afraid to make a decision. Ideas are discussed to death. No action taken until it's too late.

Pros

Great benefits, a lot of really bright people to work with, nice perks (i.e. on-site cafeteria, gym, training center, etc.)

Cons

There are many people in management that have no business being there and good people under them suffer for their ineptness. Expectations are extremely high and the company has a well-deserved reputation for working employees to death -- very true. There is no work/life balance and no appreciation for those who work the hardest vs. those who just do the minimum to get by. I was there for 3 years and the company fails miserably in training its employees or giving them the right information/tools to do their jobs. It's common knowledge that they just throw you in and expect you to do the work. They really need to work on that; it's not fair to employees.
