Pros

Compensation was good, but not great for the work expected.

Cons

Leadership is a disaster and has no respect for the employees. Constant fire drills that are fake urgency from the CEO which flows down to everyone else.

Was a Great Place

Pros

GSI was a great organization under CAI, they left the company to do what they do well. We were able to focus on the customers and the people in the company and get strategy, processes and culture and great place, We won a number of awards, brought turnover down and most employees and customer we very happy. Hard working environment

Cons

Under KKR the company suffered from the usual large PE firm issues, far to much teaching young MBAs about the business. Heavy distractions in reporting to ownership, lack of focus on people and customers and full focus on reporting upward. Major focus on cost cutting in an already lean environment. CFO at the time was a neurotic mess with a team that was incompetent. The real focus was turning the company and reselling it.

Expectations are through the roof

Pros

They advertise being a part owner which is cool if the company sells.

Cons

0 work life balance. consistently work 60-70 hours a week while management still wants more. Upper management is inconsistent on their wants for the company which is extremely confusing and frustrating. It feels like there is no proactive planning, instead everything is reactive. The turnover his terrible and causes extra efforts to continually retrain new employees. They often hire agency employees with the notion of "temp to hire" but rarely make the step of converting the temps to fulltime. Understaffed but hardly hiring additional headcount. Seems like they set the baseline for fulltime as 60 hours a week instead of 40. CEO loves to talk about himself and very out of touch with what is happening at different levels of the company.
