Pros
Great benefits! Lots of paid time off for staff especially compared to private sector and many nonprofits. Inspiring to be around students Most colleagues really care about the work we did.
Cons
Silos. Salaries and job satisfaction really vary depending on what school you are in. No standardized pay bands. Can sometimes feel like caste system with faculty at the top and regular employees at the bottom. But that's probably the nature of higher ed everywhere. It's so different when you're in another workplace where every employee understands they are an employee.
