Pros

Good pay. A lot of PTO. Christmas gifts.

Cons

Benefit package (insurance) does not cover much of anything. Lower management needs proper training. Very unprofessional.

Pros

As this review titles suggests, the most of the people you will work with here are fantastic. There is a genuine sense of family and camaraderie that permeates nearly every corner of Georgetown that you just don't get everywhere. This being a higher education institution you are bombarded with encouragement to pursue continuing education and professional development opportunities. This encouragement is not superfluous as the University offers a general tuition assistance benefit that all full-time employees vet into within one year of employment.

Cons

Far and away, the largest con is compensation. Base pay is relatively small and budget-first attitudes foster an initial inclination by management to hire and reclassify positions on-the-cheap. Benefits are decent but core compensatory incentives are really lacking. No bonuses or equity sharing an merit-based pay increases (meaning raises are commensurate to effort put forth) top out around 3% - therefore in order to qualify for a pay increase that barely keep up with annual practical cost-of-living increases.

Pros

great 403(b) retirement program, excellent holiday/vacation schedule, very bright students who are articulate and obvious passionate about learning, beautiful campus

Cons

extremely low pay for the area, bureaucratic red tape, some nightmarishly catty professors and admin staff who act more immature than the students, clique-ish atmosphere in a lot of offices, especially if you didn't attend georgetown for undergrad
