Pros

The Georgetown University community has a wealth of knowledge and resources for employees who wish to expand their knowledge, even outside their professional field. The campus is very accessible, and co-workers tend to be very supportive and collegial. Benefits are very good - a plus, as the university is a non-profit.

Cons

There is a very strange mix of higher education, government, and business culture at Georgetown University, and the three seldom mesh well. The education culture often is at odds with the increasingly business-focused practices of the administration. There are also some areas where a surplus of middle managers attempts to compensate for unfocused or unrealized initiatives. Utilizing tuition benefits can be difficult if classes conflict with work hours, or if program of study is outside your professional track. Pay scale is lower than comparable jobs in the government or private sectors, so retaining qualified staff can be difficult when the pay shortcomings are realized.

Pros

Georgetown has a very flexible environment. It's very relaxed. Free education !! This is honestly the best part, you can complete certificates or degrees as long as you've worked there at least a year. Amazing match on 401k plan.

Cons

Low pay. The University even had a salary freeze out in place during the crisis. They don't even give a real inflation raise. If you are looking to get a raise this is not the place as you will never get one unless you transfer departments. One year we got a 0.75% raise ...
