I feel the job has its pros and cons; horrible experience with management

good perks; good research opportunities

Cons

supervision/management was extremely disorganized in my department. the supervisor didn't have the skills to manage problems or separate personal life from professional life. employees were yelled at , and scape goats were sought after to put the blame on. extra efforts made by employees to improve quality of work were overlooked. basically the senior management was prepared to work their employees to the ground, without much appreciation of their work.

Pros of working for Georgetown University: great benefits, flexible schedule, nice people, free classes through TAP, nice neighborhood, lot of research.

Cons

The cons of working at Georgetown University are probably same for all university in DC area: lower salaries comparing to industry, not too much opportunities of growing since the senior positions are already filled and peoples prefer to retire from here.

They pay their adjuncts better than other DC institutions. Fair amount of control over courses taught. Limited oversight and collegial colleagues.

Cons

You still are an adjunct. Relatively invisible within the institution. There is no real hope of converting your position into a tenure track job.
