Pros

Work from home most of the time,

Cons

Youth and friendships valued more highly than experience and knowledge. Days off are given, but blacked out so you can't use them. Forced to travel and pay for your own hotel rooms. Will not give any leeway on attendance or options to attend remotely as an ONLINE school to those who need alternatives due to family's health needs or own health needs. Fires people while they're on leave or out sick because they missed testing or PD during the absence. Disrespectful leadership. Far too much paperwork and red tape. WAY more than brick and mortar schools. Like the headline says, no classroom autonomy. Very experienced teachers watched like a hawk to lake sure they are following every step and point of the canned format for daily lessons. Spoken to like we are children. Pay still a bit low compared to state schedule. Charter schools have the option to use state insurance and follow state sick day and personal day schedule. They opt out of ALL the state rules, which cheats staff out of time, money, and their own health.

Poorly run, out of date thinking

Pros

Remote, nice teammates, team planning

Cons

Teaching live classes ALL day, extremely tiresome to teach all day. What’s worse is there still so many other administrative tasks to do in the day as well. There is no time to plan teach and do all the unnecessary tasks assigned.

Pros

So much less stressful than brick and mortar, flexibility if you are taking care of small children, very supportive environment, this place honestly saved my teaching career when I was feeling very burnt out and ready to leave teaching entirely

Cons

If you have practically any prior years of experience and advanced degrees, this will be a step down in pay because since they are a charter school they do not follow state salary schedule, plus the insurance premiums are much more expensive than what I paid in brick and mortar.
