      Pros

      Large corporation, name recognition within the Southeast.

      Cons

      The company is owned by a mega-billionaire whose father was a founding member of the John Birch society. That should tell you everything you need to know about the corporate culture being brought into GP since the takeover. When I was hired, lots of promises were made about "big bonuses". After I was hired, I was told I wouldn't be eligible for a bonus for at least 3 more years. And this happened to everyone else hired in my department during the same time.

      Good pay. Laid back. Stable.

      Cons

      Old school managers. Top down management which is ineffective and disorganized. Management has improved some as some have retired, but still lacks alot to be desired. Planning is terrible. Safety dept is just for perception and ppe enforcement. Very few technical managers or managers with formal education. Corporate management style and local management night and day. Alot of politics and special interest among union officials and company. Advancement based on politics more than merit or skill.

      > Poor leadership with poor decision making that affects employees > Several mill closures in recent years leading to layoffs in several mills. They have let a lot of talent walk out of the door in recent tames > Unsafe mill practices
